Solis described her as "a character model" for young Hispanics within the business of entertainment for her distinctive performance in the show "Ugly Betty". Ferrera was named one of Time's 100 most influential people in 2007. Ferrera is a fervent supporter of the Save the Children Campaign' as well as its ambassador. She travelled to India in the course of her efforts to spread awareness of sex slaves and to get to know children who are sexworkers.
